Privacy Policy

Line Art by Charles LLC ("we," "us," "our") makes minimalist 3D printed sculptures and sells them at lineartbycharles.com and on Etsy. This page explains what personal information we collect on lineartbycharles.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how to ask us to delete it. We wrote it in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us (see Contact below) and ask.

Information We Collect

What we collect depends on how you use the site:

• Placing an order: your name, email, and shipping address, collected through Stripe's checkout page.
• Gift notes: if you mark an order as a gift and write a note, we store that note with the order so we can include it. If your note names the gift recipient ("Happy birthday, Mom"), we now have that person's name too, even though they never placed an order with us.
• Leaving a review: your first name, star rating, review text, and any photos you attach. We only publish your review publicly if you check the consent box on the review form.
• Sharing a customer photo, or telling us you found one of our pieces: your name, email, a photo if you include one, and roughly where you found it (city/state, never a precise address). Photos are only used publicly under the terms you agree to at the time, see our Photo Submission Terms.
• Requesting a custom piece or a breed we don't carry: your name, email, what you're asking for, and a reference photo if you attach one.
• Requesting a return or exchange: your email, order number, what happened, your message, and a photo if you attach one.
• Signing up for email: your email and name, whether through our newsletter signup, the exit popup that offers a discount code, or a mailing-list box on another form.
• Searching the site: if a search turns up no results, we log the search term so we know what to consider carrying. It's stored as a scrambled (hashed) version of the term, never tied to your name, email, or IP address.
• Browsing the site: general technical and behavioral data collected by Google Analytics and Meta Pixel, described below.

How We Use This Information

• To make and ship your order, and to contact you about it
• To respond to reviews, custom requests, breed requests, and return requests
• To publish a review or photo, only if you gave consent for that specific submission
• To send marketing emails, only to people who signed up or ordered (see Your Choices to opt out)
• To measure whether our ads are working, using Meta and Google
• To keep tax and order records as required by law

Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. through Stripe's own hosted checkout page. We never see, receive, or store your full card number, CVV, or card details. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, and Advertising

We run ads on Facebook and Instagram. Pages across the site load the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) as soon as they open, before you interact with anything. That's how these tools work; we have not built a system to hold them back until you click something (see the cookie note below).

• Meta Pixel (in your browser): tells Meta which pages you viewed, so we can measure and target ads.
• Meta Conversions API (from our server, after a completed order): tells Meta that a purchase happened, along with a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your email and name and the order value. Meta cannot reverse the scrambling to read your actual email or name from this.
• Google Analytics 4: tells Google which pages you viewed and how you got here, so we can understand site traffic.

Cookies and localStorage

We show a short cookie banner the first time you visit. Right now that banner is a notice, not a switch: dismissing it does not stop Google Analytics or Meta Pixel, and both are already active by the time you see the banner. If you want to actually block them, use your browser's cookie or tracking settings, a tracker-blocking browser extension, or Google's own Analytics opt-out add-on.

Separately, we use your browser's localStorage (not a cookie) to remember your cart, any gift note or coupon you've entered, and whether you've dismissed the cookie banner. This stays on your device. We cannot see or delete it remotely; clearing your browser data clears it.

Who We Share Information With

We share information only with the service providers below, and only for the purpose stated:

• Stripe: payment processing and sales tax calculation
• Meta (Facebook/Instagram): advertising, as described above
• Google (Analytics): site traffic analytics
• Resend: sends our emails (order confirmations, shipping updates, marketing) and stores our mailing list
• Netlify: hosts this site and stores form submissions (reviews, returns, custom and breed requests, and similar) in its Blobs storage
• Cloudflare Turnstile: checks that certain form submissions are from a person, not a bot
• USPS or another shipping carrier: delivers your order and receives your shipping address to do so

Our Etsy Shop

We also sell through Etsy, at etsy.com/shop/LineArtByCharles. If you buy there instead of on this site, Etsy is the seller platform for that order and handles your data under Etsy's own Privacy Policy, separate from this one. The only thing we pull from Etsy onto this site is our aggregate star rating (for example, "4.9 stars, 206 reviews"); we never publish individual Etsy review text or reviewer names here.

How Long We Keep Information

We do not have an automated system that deletes or expires data on a schedule today. Below is our actual practice, not a promise of automatic deletion:

• Orders, receipts, and shipping addresses: at least 7 years, to satisfy IRS recordkeeping requirements
• Reviews and photos you've consented to publish: kept while posted, removed if you ask
• Mailing list: kept until you unsubscribe
• Custom, breed, and return requests: kept so we can follow up; no automatic cutoff yet
• Search terms: kept in scrambled, non-identifying form indefinitely

We Do Not Sell Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing.

Your Choices

• Marketing email: every marketing email has unsubscribe instructions in the footer. Click it, or email us and ask to be removed. We handle these by hand today, so please allow a few business days.
• Cookies and tracking: use your browser's privacy settings, a tracker-blocking extension, or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above. Our on-site cookie banner does not block tracking by itself right now (see Cookies and localStorage above).
• Your data generally: email us to ask what we have on file, or to ask us to delete it. See below.

Requesting Access or Deletion

Email orders@lineartbycharles.com and tell us what you'd like. We will locate your information across our systems and remove or de-identify what we reasonably can. A few honest limits:

• We're required to keep tax and order records for 7 years regardless of a deletion request.
• We cannot delete records that live inside Stripe's or Etsy's own systems on your behalf; those are their transaction records, not ours to erase. You're welcome to contact them directly.
• We do this by hand today, not through an automated tool, so it may take some time. We'll confirm with you once it's done.

Changes to This Policy

If we materially change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and change the effective date above.
